Within the glass tube is a copper fin with a special coating and ridges to maximize the absorption of the sun’s energy. The heat pipe is attached to the reverse of this fin and the energy heats the liquid in the heat pipe. The T-nox coating is designed to collect both direct and the diffuse solar radiation we often see on cloudy or overcast days.
